Five days until the police recovered the notebooks... but how long until the school got them back?
Typically they are kept as evidence for quite some time and you can't get a replacement on insurance in the mean time.
I just had my Mac laptop stolen, and I wish I had something like this installed. Yes, it needs more press because until it happens to you, you don't want to think about it.

Mr. Burman got back his Macs on April 18, just 10 days after recovery. Sometimes, it takes longer indeed, but most computer investigations are handled within two weeks.

What happens to this software if the company goes under? Who will track the computer and do all the 'legwork' to recover the stolen notebook?
Why worry about this (anonymous question about Orbicle going under) it is very inexpensive protection. It costs less than most Virus software for PCs and that expires every year!
